Dragons Come to Riverdale Regional Park

A partnership between Colorado Dragon Boat, Adams County, and Colorado Dragon Boat Alliance (CODA)

Colorado Dragon Boat, Adams County, and Colorado Dragon Boat Alliance (CODA) have announced the date for the first Dragon Boat Regatta on Mann-Nyholt Lake at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. This regatta will be on Saturday, June 26, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

“We continue to make investments in Riverdale Regional Park with the goal of bringing quality programs to our residents,” said Eva J. Henry, Adams County Commissioner and Board Chair. “Riverdale serves as a destination for the Front Range region and it is our intention to expand the amenities in the coming years."

The regatta will have a festival feel, with performances and food trucks, along with races, throughout the day.

"It is so important to partner with our SCFD Tier III organizations to bring cultural events to our residents,” said Raymond H. Gonzales, County Manager. “As we enhance and expand the park, we want to provide an array of programs and activities for our residents and visitors to enjoy.”

There will be a coffee truck in the morning to kick off the morning energy, along with a food truck for lunch. In addition to the Asian cuisine fueling our paddlers and attendees, the energetic performances of Mudra Dance will entertain attendees from noon - 1 p.m. with music and dance celebrating East Indian culture.

This event is free and open to the public to cheer on the dragons as they race across the Mann-Nyholt Lake with the Rocky Mountain backdrop. We encourage everyone to explore the grounds of Riverdale Regional Park and chat with our representatives from Colorado Dragon Boat, Colorado Dragon Boat Alliance, and Adams County to learn more about our new partnership.

“We are excited to provide an opportunity for the Dragon Boat community to come together for the first time since 2019 for CODA's inaugural regatta," said CODA President, Jeff Dang.

Colorado Dragon Boat will store their boats at Riverdale Regional Park year-round and will use Mann-Nyholt Lake throughout the warmer months to practice, train, and race.
