“I Voted” Sticker Design Contest for Adams County Students

The Adams County Elections Department is hosting a second “I Voted” sticker design contest for Adams County students. The first design contest drew nearly 50 entries from students ranging from kindergarten to college level, and four stickers were chosen as winners and featured in the 2019 and 2020 elections.

In addition, a new Spanish category has been introduced this year. The winning design of this category will be available at in-person voting locations throughout the 2021 and 2022 elections.

“For the contest in 2019, my office was blown away by the many incredible designs we received,” says Josh Zygielbaum, Adams County Clerk & Recorder. “We knew right away we’d continue running the contest and engaging our community’s youth in the electoral process. It’s a great opportunity for students to share their creativity and to learn something about elections in the process.” 

Students can submit hand-drawn or digital artwork now through Friday, May 7. Prizes will be awarded to the grand prize winner and runners-up. For more information on rules, prizes, and how to enter, visit AdamsVotes.com/contest. 

Adams County residents will have the opportunity to vote on the top sticker designs to choose the final winners. Information about the voting process will be available on the Adams County Clerk & Recorder Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as the Adams County Government social channels.

In addition to the prizes, the winning designs will be featured in 2021 Coordinated (third place), 2022 Primary (second place), and 2022 General (grand prize) elections.

Contest Rules 

  • Students must keep their original artwork and/or design files—we’ll need it to make the new stickers. 
  • Designs must say “I Voted” or “I Voted in Adams County.” 
  • Submissions must be non-partisan. 
  • Students should consider elements representative of Adams County, elections, or patriotism. 
  • Students and/or parents must be willing to allow us to use artwork for upcoming elections. 
  • Students must live in or attend school in Adams County or have a parent who works for the county.
  • Students must fill out and sign the submission form (must be signed by a parent or guardian if the student is under 18).
  • Entries must include a short description of the design, as well as information on the inspiration for the design.

Governor Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor 9/11 Anniversary

Governor Polis ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide on Monday, September 11, 2023, from sunrise to sunset to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and also in recognition of Patriot Day, which was designated by Congress in 2001.  

President Biden issued A Proclamation on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, 2023, and ordered flags lowered to half-staff. The full text is below:

Adams County Health Department Reports First Death of the Season from West Nile Virus Infection

Adams County Health Department (ACHD) officials confirmed the first death from West Nile virus, an adult resident, within the county this year.

West Nile virus is spread to people through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Most infected with the virus do not have symptoms. However, one in five could develop flu-like symptoms, which typically begin two to 14 days after exposure. Serious, potentially deadly neurologic illness occurs in fewer than one in 100 infected people.

Deputy County Manager Chris Kline Credentialed by International Local Government Management Organization

Chris Kline, Deputy County Manager of Adams County, recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association. Kline is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program, and the third credentialed leader currently serving within Adams County government.

Adams County Health Department and Human Services Department Working Together to Prevent Residents From Losing Health Insurance

After more than a three-year pause, the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) has resumed the standard eligibility renewal and disenrollment process for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+). The priority for the Adams County Health Department  (ACHD) and Adams County Human Services Department (ACHS) is to keep residents covered and to connect disenrolling members to affordable health coverage.
