Riverdale Animal Shelter Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Today, Riverdale Animal Shelter (RAS) celebrates another milestone as Adams County hosts a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome the public to the state-of-the-art facility. Staff and animals moved into the new shelter in early October 2020, and now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, we are thrilled to welcome the community as we resume normal operations at RAS.

“This building has been years in the making, and it was well worth the wait,” said Eva J. Henry, Adams County Commissioner and Board Chair. “With more than 6,000 animals taken in each year, and numerous services provided, the facility now matches the level of service we have always provided to our residents."

“Our people have always met the standard of service we expect and now they have a facility to match their professionalism and expertise,” said Adams County Manager Raymond Gonzales.

This new, modernized facility includes an expanded veterinary clinic, larger kennel spaces for cats and dogs, and additional housing for small mammals. RAS partners with eight municipalities, including unincorporated Adams County, as well as 40 rescue organizations and numerous animal shelters along the Front Range to provide safe sheltering, quarantines, and a range of animal impound services. They also serve as a critical facility responsible for providing temporary shelter for animals in our community during emergencies or natural disasters.

Patrons may visit adoptable animals in person during regular business hours at 12155 Park Blvd., Brighton, near the south end of Riverdale Regional Park. Visit riverdaleanimalshelter.org to view adoptable pets, shelter services, and more.
