Jenni Grafton Named Director of Community & Economic Development Department

Jenni Grafton has been named Director of  the Adams County Community & Economic Development Department. Grafton will begin on Tuesday, June 29.

“The remarkable growth in the county brings challenges and Jenni is well equipped to lead our CED team as they navigate high-profile land use, zoning, and oil and gas regulations,” said Adams County Manager Raymond Gonzales. “Having local experience and expertise will certainly shorten the learning curve for Jenni in this critical role.”

Riverdale Animal Shelter Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Today, Riverdale Animal Shelter (RAS) celebrates another milestone as Adams County hosts a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome the public to the state-of-the-art facility. Staff and animals moved into the new shelter in early October 2020, and now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, we are thrilled to welcome the community as we resume normal operations at RAS.

Dawn Aerospace and Colorado Air and Space Port Sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Dawn Aerospace (Dawn) and Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) have entered into an MOU, which lays out a series of future interactions that are mutually expected to occur between the two entities, but are not legally binding. Future actions include Dawn establishing a presence at CASP, working with CASP to create a relationship with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and, eventually, conducting test flights and spaceplane launches.

Launching Advancing Adams Phase 2: Planning for a Shared Future

After a successful first phase featuring analysis of existing conditions, listening to the community, and establishing goals for the future, Adams County is launching Phase 2 of engagement for the Advancing Adams planning process. This planning process, which kicked off in August 2020 and concludes in Spring 2022, will result in a trio of long-range master planning documents – a Comprehensive Plan, a Transportation & Mobility Master Plan (TMP), and a Parks, Open Space & Trails Plan (POST).

Adams County Buildings to be Fully Staffed Starting June 2

All Adams County employees will return to work on Wednesday, June 2, and Adams County buildings will be fully staffed in person. For the past year, many employees have been working remotely to help combat the spread of COVID-19 for both county employees and the public.

Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Peace Officers Memorial Day

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis today ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, May 15, 2021, in honor of the Peace Officers Memorial Day, as proclaimed by President Biden. This order stacks on the May 11, 2021, order lowering flags to honor the victims of the Colorado Springs shooting. Flags should remain lowered through Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  

Seasonal Code Compliance Graffiti Program

In response to a spike in graffiti and an increase in homelessness in Adams County, the Community Safety & Well-Being Department (CSWB) has launched a seasonal graffiti program. The intention is to fill two seasonal positions with people who are experiencing or have experienced homelessness.
