Poverty Reduction

Poverty Reduction works to reduce poverty and homelessness through community engagement, partnership development, and helping shape policy. We work collaboratively across the region to improve systems, elevate people, reduce displacement, and expand opportunities and services. We strive to lead and coordinate initiatives related to homelessness, housing, and quality of life.

Notify Street Outreach

Notify Adams County Street Outreach Network of locations where people experiencing unsheltered homelessness are congregating in Adams County by completing this form. When possible, the Poverty Reduction Team will check in with the residents, assess needs, and offer basic supplies.

Volunteer Opportunities

Want to help with homelessness outreach? Volunteers must commit to volunteer one shift per month for at least six months. Please email your volunteer application and volunteer waiver to [email protected] and we will schedule a volunteer orientation.

Existing Programs

Adams County Day Works

Adams County Day Works is a low-to no-barrier employment program for people experiencing homelessness. In partnership with Bayaud Enterprises, the purpose of this program is to provide day labor opportunities for participants while working towards permanent employment. For more information on Adams County Day Works, please visit adcogov.org/dayworks.

Homelessness Outreach

Through street outreach, professionals across Adams County connect with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, provide support, and connect them with resources and services. We receive funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs’ (DOLA) Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) to expand our reach and impact. If you need street outreach support, please contact Heather McClure at 720.688.1607. Want to help? An easy way to make a big impact is by purchasing street outreach gear on our Amazon Wishlist! Items will be delivered to the poverty reduction team at the Adams County Government Center and distributed to people in need across Adams County. The Wishlist will be updated periodically.

Housing Mediation

Brother's Redevelopment offers no-cost tenant-landlord mediation sessions to all Adams County residents. These in-person or virtual sessions work to improve communication between parties to achieve mutually agreed-upon solutions. Mediation sessions may help parties negotiate payment plans, get into lease compliance, work out interpersonal issues, and avoid the court-sanctioned eviction process. To schedule a mediation session or learn more, call Colorado Housing Connects at 1.844.926.6632.

Mobile Shower and Mobile Laundry Services

Shower and laundry trucks will be available for people experiencing homelessness and will be stationed during the summer months. During the winter, the mobile laundry service will be running at Crossroads Church in Northglenn on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Indoor showers are also available at Crossroads Church. Click here to view a short video of the program.

Point-in-Time (PIT) Count

The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a snapshot of literal homelessness on a single night, which helps communities understand trends and the needs of those staying in sheltered and unsheltered situations across the region. Due to COVID-19, there will be no unsheltered count this year. The sheltered count will take place on the night of Feb. 25.

Severe Weather Activation Plan (SWAP)

SWAP is a severe weather response in collaboration with Adams County Government and Almost Home. From October to April, SWAP assesses and administers hotel/motel stays when the weather poses a threat to the well-being and/or lives of people sleeping or living outdoors during the winter months. For general information and to sign up for activation notifications, please visit almosthomeonline.org/swap.
