Eastbound I-76 Overnight Closures - Aug. 27 and 28
For two consecutive nights (Sunday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Aug. 28), crews will temporarily close eastbound Interstate 76 at 96th Avenue to all traffic overnight in order to install an overhead sign structure and place large sign panels. All eastbound motorists will detour off I-76 at 96th Avenue (exit 11) starting at 10 p.m. Eastbound I-76 will reopen by 5:30 a.m. the following morning. All work is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
Lane closures will begin as early as 7 p.m. in advance of full closure at 10 p.m. Sign structure installation is part of the I-76 at US Highway 85 reconstruction project.
During the closure, northbound US 85 will not be accessible directly from eastbound I-76. All eastbound motorists will detour off I-76 at 96th Avenue (exit 11).
- To access eastbound I-76, the signed detour will direct motorists east (right) on 96th Avenue and then north (left) on Highway 2 for approximately four miles to access the next eastbound I-76 on-ramp.
- To access northbound US 85, the signed detour will direct motorists west (left) on 96th Avenue, north (right) on Brighton Road, east (right) on 104th Avenue and north (left) onto US 85.
