Government Center Facts

  • Funding for the Government Center was made possible by Adams County voters who extended a county sales tax in 2006. The one-half of one percent sales tax was extended for 20 years to fund critical transportation projects such the new Government Center, Justice Center expansion and a pre-trial holding facility.
  • The project began in 2008 with a conceptual design package that included a goal to create a center that benefits the community in terms of convenient access, reduced operating costs and conservation of county resources.
  • Grading began in September of 2008. The Board of County Commissioners awarded the grading contract and site services for the Government Center to Diamond Excavating of Arvada. The grading was completed by November 15, 2008.
  • The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 14, 2009.
  • The general contractor was Saunders Construction Inc.
  • The project was completed in January 2011 ahead of schedule and on budget.
