MyWayToGo: Daily Commuting and Ride Sharing

Adams County is in full support of maximizing commuter efficiency for employees and residents who travel within the community.   This effort is made easier through ‘WayToGo’,  a partnership that works together to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and make life better for the region’s residents.  The WayToGo program offers real-life solutions helping commuters save money, experience less stress, and save time, so that they can focus more on the things they enjoy.

The steps are simple!

  1. Go to mywaytogo.org and create a profile.
  2. Enter your starting location and ending destination (home or work, likely). You can add information like the hours you work and such. ‘Star’ this as a ‘Favorite Trip’.
  3. Once that info is entered, go to your Dashboard (button in the black top bar of the screen) if not already there.
  4. The right hand corner of the page will show your commute, and if there is someone close by to you who has entered a similar commute you will see a little grey box that says ‘Matching Carpool’. Click on that.
  5. You’ll be taken to a page that tells you more about that individual, and you can choose to connect with them if you’d like.
  6. Email your new potential carpool buddy, meet for coffee to make sure you like each other enough to be in a confined space for 30 minutes, and voila!

There is also an option for a vanpool, in which DRCOG will lease you a vehicle to drive, if you have 4 or more people carpooling together.

Nissan LEAF and Available Charging Posts

In January 2015, the Government Center installed an electronic vehicle charging station at the front entrance, which is available for free public use thanks to the support of the Regional Air Quality Council. In just over a year and a half, the charging station has helped us eliminate an estimated 2700 kg of Greenhouse Gases that would have otherwise been emitted in to the atmosphere. As demand increases, there will be a push to have more charging stations installed throughout the county.
