How long does it take to get a passport?
Processing times for standard passport applications vary. Please go to travel.state.gov for the most current processing times.
What if I’m traveling in less than two weeks?
You will need to call the National Passport Information Center at 1.877.487.2778 or visit travel.state.gov. Also, you may need to schedule an appointment at the regional passport agency in Aurora and will be required to provide proof of traveling in less than two weeks.
Where can I obtain a passport application?
Passport applications may be obtained from travel.state.gov or in the Adams County Recording office. Please note that applications must be completed before appointment time.
Do I have to make an appointment to apply for my passport?
Yes, Adams County accepts passport applications by appointment only*. Please be aware each person in your party needs a separate appointment.
Do I need special pictures for my passport application?
Passport applications require one passport picture measuring 2”x 2” to be included with the application. A full list of picture requirements can be found at travel.state.gov.
The Adams County Recording office can provide pictures for $14 ($7 for retakes), or you can search online for other agencies that offer pictures.
What’s the difference between a passport card and a passport booklet?
A passport card cannot be used for air travel. It may only be used for land or sea travel to or from the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
How much does a passport cost?
Fees vary based on whether the applicant needs a passport book, passport card, or both and/or any additional services.
Can I pay for passports with cash or credit card?
You cannot pay for the passport fee with cash or credit card it must be by check or money order. The acceptance/execution fee of $35 can be paid to Adams County by cash, check or credit card/debit.
