Project Update
Adams County evaluated the Road 2 low water crossing located at 15th Avenue and Bijou Creek. This area has a history of repeated flooding events, and sediment/debris depositing on top of the roadway. The goals of the project is to address sediment deposition impacts, reduce the frequency of maintenance, improve public safety, and establish a potential long-term solution.
Adams County and their consultant, Kimley-Horn (project team) conducted public meetings, poll surveys, and alternatives design analysis for a low water crossing or bridge at 15th Avenue and West Bijou Creek. Through input and feedback from the community and online survey, the road was deemed in need of reconstruction to not impede with emergency vehicles, thru traffic, and agricultural work. A reinforced concrete low-water crossing design was selected to meet these needs.
