Seeking Public Input for Colorado Enterprise Zone Redesignation Process
September 23, 2024 - Colorado’s Enterprise Zone (EZ) Program is beginning its redesignation process, and your input is invaluable. The EZ Program provides tax credits to businesses located in economically distressed areas, promoting job creation and investment. As we assess and redefine these zones, your feedback will help ensure that the program continues to effectively support economic growth where it’s needed most.
What’s happening?
Every 10 years, the Colorado Enterprise Zone Program reviews Enterprise Zone boundaries and then designates areas as Enterprise Zones. These redesignations are based on factors such as unemployment rates, population changes, and income levels.
How to be involved?
The State has created a Redesignation Tool* to help identify geographies that are eligible. You can access these tools and additional information through the links below:
Additional information on the Enterprise Zone program is available at: https://oedit.colorado.gov/enterprise-zone-program
* Tool Disclaimer: Geographies displayed in solid and hatched green represent geographies that are eligible. These geographies are not guaranteed to be included in an Enterprise Zone from the redesignation process. The tool is meant to help identify areas that qualify.
Agriculture remains a significant part of Adams County's economy
July 11, 2024 - Adams County is a hub for various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and aerospace. But did you know: agriculture remains a significant part of Adams County's economy, with crops like corn and wheat and livestock contributing to the overall agricultural output. For instance:
- Corn and wheat production alone account for millions of dollars in value each year
- A significant majority of farms in Adams County are family-owned and operated
- Learn about the County’s Agricultural Profile, here.
One specific agricultural area is Historic Splendid Valley, established through a partnership with the City of Brighton and Adams County. The area is focused on preserving farmland and stimulating innovative opportunities that create closer connections between people, farming and nature. Since the Historic Splendid Valley plan's adoption in 2016, nearly 450 acres of valuable farmland have been preserved, supporting local food production, agritourism, and our community’s heritage. This success ensures access to fresh, locally grown produce and enhances our open spaces.
You can take a virtual tour of Historic Splendid Valley to explore preserved farm properties, learn about their history, view photos, and discover how they've been protected. At the end of the tour, find out how to visit some of our local farms this summer and fall. To start your virtual tour, visit brightonco.gov/SplendidValley.
