Project Overview
Adams County is reconstructing York Street, Welby Road and Devonshire Boulevard between 78th Avenue and 88th Avenue.
Project consists of:
- Roadway widening to four lanes with raised median, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, multi-path trail.
- Intersection improvements at York St. and 78th Avenue with implanting new traffic signal and adding turn lanes.
- Drainage system improvements including water quality features.
- Installing street lighting.
- Collaborating with North Washington Street Water and Sanitation District for upgrading and relocating their facilities with the project.
- Relocating irrigation ditch for roadway widening and multi-path trail.
- Creating and building open space with landscaping.
- Community and cultural engagement with placemaking signs.
Project Update
Work Taking Place the Week of June 23
- Reconstruction of pedestrian underpass near Niver Creek between North Coronado Pkwy and South Coronado Pkwy.
- Install storm at North Coronado Pkwy.
- Install storm sewer from South Coronado Pkwy to just south of 78th Ave.
- Median island landscape work 88th Ave. to 84th Ave.
- Installation of dirt for widening.
- Century Link infrastructure relocation
- Excel infrastructure relocation
- Comcast infrastructure relocation
- Bridge construction at Niver Creek
Additional Resident Impacts
- There are no additional resident impacts this week.
Traffic Impacts
- York St. will be closed from just north of Coronado Pkwy. S to just north of Coronado Pkwy. N.
- Coronado Pkwy. N will be closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic at York St.
- Detours will be in place for motorists.
- Northbound detour:
- Motorists travelling northbound will be directed onto westbound Coronado Pkwy. S to northbound Explorador Calle then to Nueva Vista Dr. or to McElwain Blvd.
- Southbound detour:
- Motorists travelling southbound will be directed onto westbound McElwain Blvd. to southbound Explorador Calle then to Nueva Vista Dr. or to Coronado Pkwy. S.
- These closures will be in place 24/7 for approximately four weeks beginning April 6 while crews work on sanitary infrastructure at York and Coronado.
- Variable message boards, construction signs, and devices will be in place to alert motorists to the temporary closure.
- Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures throughout the work zone throughout the project duration.
