Code Compliance Citation Program

What is the Citation Program?

The purpose of Adams County’s Code Compliance Citation Program (pursuant to CRS § 30-28-124(1)(b)) is to investigate specific violations of the Adams County Development Standards and Regulations and issue citations for those violations with the goal of bringing properties into compliance in a timely manner.

Citation Program Procedure

COMPLAINT When a complaint is received, a Code Compliance Officer will inspect the property for possible violations. NOTICE If a violation is observed, the Code Compliance Officer will send a letter detailing the corrective actions necessary to come into compliance. REINSPECTION A reinspection will occur on or after 14 days from the date of the initial inspection. RECHECK If the violation remains, the case will be referred to the Code Compliance Citation Officer, and the property will be posted with a Citation Notice. CITATION If the violations are present after a final inspection, the Code Compliance Citation Officer will issue a citation. If a property is found to be out of compliance with the county’s Development Standards and Regulations, the property may be subject to a penalty of $100 for each violation. If you receive a citation, you are responsible for paying the fine(s) or appearing in court.

4-02-02-02: No Outdoor storage of Junk or Trash
4-02-02-03: Trash Containers in Front Yard
4-02-02-07: Obstruction of a Public Right-of-Way
4-03-03-02-14 (2): Total Number of Vehicles Stored
4-03-03-02-14 (4): Inhabiting Recreational Vehicles
4-03-03-02-14 (5): Right-of-Way Parking
4-03-03-02-14 (6): Inoperable and Unlicensed Vehicles
4-03-03-02-14 (7): Storage on an Approved Parking Surface
4-03-03-02-14 (1)(8): Commercial Vehicle +10,000 lbs. in R-1-C
4-20-01 (2)(3): Duty to Control Weeds/Max Height
4-20-02 (1): Duty to Control Dangerous Trees
4-20-02 (2): Tree Branches Right-of-Way Clear Height
