Certification of Tax Levies
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute (C.R.S.) 39-1-111, Adams County is required to annually certify tax levies for cities, towns, municipalities, school districts, and special districts within its jurisdiction to the Assessor and the State of Colorado.
Deadline for Certification
Local taxing jurisdictions within Adams County planning to levy a property tax must submit a certification of tax levy to the county by December 15th of every year as outlined in C.R.S. 39-5-128(1).
As required in HB24-1302, additional information must now be submitted to the County along with the mill levy certification. The required information is detailed here: https://dlg.colorado.gov/hb24-1302-mill-levy-public-information.
County's Role
The county’s role is limited to processing the tax levy certifications submitted by local taxing authorities. We are not responsible for determining the accuracy or legality of these levies. Each taxing authority is responsible for ensuring that their tax levy is correct and follows all state laws. For more information on state laws and regulations, please refer to the resources provided by the Division of Local Government (DOLA).

New for this year’s submission (and future submissions) we are now requiring mill levy certifications to be submitted electronically to Adams County at “Link Under Construction – Form will be available 12/2/2024”, no later than December 15, 2024.
