FEATURED ARTIST: CAL DURAN

Artist Cal Duran is a Queer, Two Spirit, Indigenous, Native, Mixed-blood, Latinx, Manito, Mestizo, Chicanx, Indian Artist, and Arts Educator from Colorado. He channels his indigenous ancestors in his work, where he slips under an emotional spinning vortex of creation.

Cal’s ethereal, otherworldly sculptural work will transform Festival Latino into a one-of-a-kind experience honoring the history and culture of the peoples of Latin America.

CIHUAH COLLECTIVE

The Cihuah Collective is made up of Mandy Medrano and Cindy Loya, two soul hermanas dedicated to sharing creating healing arts with community. Mandy Medrano is a health advocate, educator, and art workshop facilitator bridging generational gaps and encourages cultural awareness. Cindy Loya is a mixed media artist of Mexican American heritage drawing inspiration from the complexities of being Mexican American, feminism, and nature. Her artworks serve as storytelling devices, revealing connections to heritage and community.

S A M M I O T Z I

Artist Samantha Hutchinson-Ouranos is a Mexican-American, full-time mother and artist from Monterrey Mexico. Illustration and painting have been a lifetime joy for Hutchinson-Ouranos, launching S A M M I O T Z I in 2015, a creative brand crafting apparel, fine art, and marketing campaigns.

As a Latina artist and designer, she believes it's important to use her voice. Her activism work includes paintings detailing the impact of domestic violence, a campaign increasing Latin voter turnout, and illustrations in support of the Women Life Freedom movement in Iran.

Hutchinson-Ouranos is creating a beautiful Yemaya sculpture for Festival Latino, an African goddess from the Yoruba religion influencing cultures across Latin America.

SASHA PRIMO

At the intersection where creativity and community converge, Sasha Primo weaves tales of color, identity, culture, and empowerment. Born in Argentina, educated in painting and electronic arts, Sasha uses public space to give life to hyper-realistic murals of indigenous peoples as an invitation to explore distant lands and reflect about the rich tapestry of cultural diversity. Sasha has produced work across the world, including Mexico, Ecuador, and Panama.

Sasha will paint two murals, one wall and one ground mural for Festival Latino, in addition to hosting a mask making experience.

BETO MOJARDIN

Norberto “Beto” Mojardin is the founder of Latin Fashion Week Colorado, a painter, sculptor, fashion designer, and much more. He is deeply committed to uplifting the Latino community across Colorado through his work.

Beto will bring his large-scale alebrije sculptures to Festival Latino, including a sculpture to be painted by festival attendees.

MARKUS PUSKAR

Denver muralist and painter Markus Puskar creates living, breathing works that replicate the movement and patterns found in the natural world. From art residencies in Estonia and Colombia, to receiving the “The Best Community Building Mural” Award from Denver Westword, Markus Puskar gives a colorful and exciting perspective on the world around us.

Markus is creating an immersive and everchanging experience for attendees, inviting you to contribute to a series of collaborative mural panels.

JERRY JARAMILLO

Jerry Jaramillo is a local sculptor and muralist who has created large, monumental sculptures across Colorado and painted murals throughout the Southwest United States and Mexico.

A collection of Jerry’s alebrije sculptures will be on display at Festival Latino. These stunning, vibrant pieces are made completely from found and recycled materials.
