15th Avenue at West Bijou Creek

Project Update

Adams County is in the process of evaluating the Road 2 low water crossing located at 15th Avenue and Bijou Creek. This area has a history of repeated flooding events, and because of that sediment and debris often get deposited on top of the roadway. The goals of this project are to address sediment deposition impacts, reduce the frequency of maintenance, improve public safety, and establish a potential long-term solution. Adams County and their consultant, Kimley-Horn (project team), are in the process of performing an engineering, hydrologic/hydraulic, and alternatives analysis of the low water crossing located at 15th Avenue and West Bijou Creek. Adams County recognizes that damage to bridges due to flooding can require extensive recovery timeframes. Resident feedback is vital in the process of fixing this roadway issue.
