What Does Planning & Development Do?

The Planning & Development Division coordinates efforts and reviews related to development projects. This includes development engineering, land use and zoning administration, building permitting and inspection. The division is primarily responsible for:

  • Ensuring that land uses within the unincorporated portions of the county are developed in compliance with the county’s adopted codes and regulations
  • Reviewing and issuing development permits, land use permits, and a variety of other specialized permits
  • Administering the county’s floodplain regulations
  • Administering, updating, and maintaining the Adams County Development Standards & Regulations
