Add or Drop a Name on Your Title & Registration

Step One: Decide if this is option is right for your transaction. 
  • You are a current resident of Adams County
  • Must be listed as an owner of the vehicle
  • The person being added or dropped is still living. If the person that needs to be removed from the title is deceased please call 720.523.6010 or schedule an appointment online.
Step Two: What do you need?
  • Secure and Verifiable Identification (SVID) This identification must be provided by the owner of record. Examples of acceptable SVID can be found here.
  • Original Title to the vehicle, properly assigned (Copies not acceptable).
    • All owners on the face of the title have hand-printed and signed their names (as it reads on the face of the title) in the seller section.
    • If a lien is noticed on the face of the title that must be released by the lienholder's name, agent's signature, and date. If the lien is not being released it must read “Lien Still Active “in that section of the title. 
    • All new owners (buyers) have hand-printed their names in the buyers' section of the title, how they would like the new title and registration to read.
  • DR 2175 Colorado Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney (if applicable)
  • DR 2444 Statement of Fact (if applicable) 
  • DR 2395 Application for Title
  • DR2421 Statement of One in the Same (listing all variations of the owners' name)
  • Check or Money Order 
    • Make checks payable to Adams County Clerk 
    • Make sure the check is signed 
    • The cost is $7.20
