Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)
LEAP provides financial assistance to low-income households to help pay part of their winter home heating costs.
Assistance is given to those households who pay directly to a utility company or those who have heat included in their rent.

Services Provided
- There are other requirements for subsidized housing.
- All applicant households whose countable income for the eligibility period is up to and including 60% of the state median income level released by the U.S. Department of Health shall meet the income requirements for this assistance program.
- LEAP can also assist with home heat system repair and/or replacement of inoperable heating systems.
Applications are taken from November 1 through April 30.

What happens after I apply?
Application will be assigned to a technician. LEAP office has 30 days to process a regular application and 14 days to process an emergency application.
What can I expect now?
If there is additional information needed to complete the application, a letter will be sent out. When the processing of the application is completed, a notice will be mailed advising of the decision.
How do I get payment/receive benefits?
If heat is paid to a vendor, the payment will be paid to the vendor. If heat is paid to a third party (landlord/apartment complex), the benefit will be placed onto an EBT card.
