Project Spotlights:
LED Lighting Replacement
LED lights use 50-70% less energy than fluorescent lights to produce the same amount of light.
The Honnen Building, located in Commerce City, houses the HeadStart program and a local foodbank. In January 2025, the Facilities & Fleet Management replaced over 300 fluorescent bulbs with new LED bulbs. Using Xcel Energy rebates, Adams County will save $4,400 with this project.
The Justice Center, located in Brighton, serves as Adam County’s courthouse. Facilities & Fleet Management is in the process of replacing over 5,000 building and parking lot fluorescent lighting with LED lighting. The LED lighting will have photo sensors built into them so they will turn off when sensing light and motion sensors to dim lights when activity is observed. The Justice Center is also getting new water-saving sinks and toilets in addition to upgraded water bottle fillers.
Facilities & Fleet Management is also converting 41 parking lot lights to LED at the District Attorney’s Office in Brighton.
Solar Lights
Three solar lights are being installed in the parking lots of the Flatrock Training Facility in Commerce City and the Strasburg Public Works Shop. Solar lights run on energy from the sun, eliminating the need for electricity from the grid.
