Adams County and Brighton Housing Authority Partner on Affordable Housing Project
With the need for affordable housing greater than ever, Adams County and Brighton Housing Authority (BHA) have partnered on the Adams Point Redevelopment Project, to be located at 19th Ave. and Bridge St. in Brighton.
The property is currently a vacant lot owned by Adams County, which is transferring ownership to BHA. BHA will develop a phased affordable housing project to include an estimated 160 units. BHA is in the initial stages of project feasibility and plans to pursue Low Income Housing Tax Credits to finance the project.
“As someone who has struggled with housing in my own past, it’s incredibly important to me to expand the affordable housing options in Adams County,” said Eva J. Henry, chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “This partnership with Brighton Housing Authority is a win-win for all involved, especially those residents in need of quality and affordable housing.”
In addition to the Adams County Manager’s Office, the Facilities & Fleet Management Department and the County Attorney’s Office were instrumental in the execution of the agreement between the county and BHA.
“This is just one of the many ways our employees are working to make a difference in the lives of our residents,” said County Manager Raymond H. Gonzales. “We will continue to include availability of affordable housing among our top priorities.”
