Have Yard or Garden Questions? Ask a Master Gardener

The Colorado State University (CSU) Extension Master Gardeners in Adams County are ready to answer your home yard and garden questions. Master Gardeners are in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from April through October, and can be found at community gardens and garden centers throughout the season. Master Gardeners can answer questions on lawns, vegetable gardens, trees, houseplants, etc. Specially trained Master Gardeners from our Tree Team are also available for home visits to assess tree health for a small fee.

CDOT Announces Lane and Ramp Closures on Westbound I-76 near US Highway 85

On Monday night, April 17, motorists should expect lane and ramp closures on westbound Interstate 76 near US Highway 85 while crews shift travel lanes onto new permanent pavement placed during Phase 1 of the I-76 at US 85 reconstruction project. The southbound US 85 direct access to westbound I-76 will be closed at 104th Avenue from 9 p.m. on Monday, April 17, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 18. A temporary full closure is necessary to move traffic onto the new alignment. Crews will also install an overhead sign structure over southbound US 85 during the full closure.

Community Needs Assessment

Adams County Human Services has partnered with Joining Vision and Action to gather feedback from Adams County residents to help us better serve our communities. Joining Vision and Action will be in our communities and at various locations collecting feedback, in addition to conducting a series of focus groups. We would like to hear from as many residents as possible.

Board of Commissioners Accepts County Manager’s Resignation

The Adams County Board of Commissioners accepted the resignation of County Manager Todd Leopold on Tuesday, April 11. Leopold was originally hired in 2012 as a deputy county administrator before accepting the county manager position in 2013.

Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered to Honor John Glenn

Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on all public buildings statewide beginning immediately until sunset, on the day of interment, in honor of John Glenn, and as proclaimed by President Donald J Trump.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training

Notice: Suncor will conduct live fire training at the Commerce City refinery on Thursday, April 6, from approximately 9 a.m .until 4 p.m.  The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds located on the west side of Brighton Blvd. (towards Burlington Ditch).  During the training there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced.  In the event of an actual emergency, Suncor will cease all ERT training and proper alarms will be sounded.

County Sets Seven Town Hall Meetings for 2017

The Adams County Board of Commissioners has set dates for seven town hall meetings, including two telephone town halls, in 2017. The meetings are open to all county residents.

The first of the meetings will be a telephone town hall on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Visit www.adcogov.org/townhall to sign up to receive a call to join the town hall meeting when it begins. During the call, participants can engage commissioners with questions or simply listen to the conversation while taking part in poll questions.
