Suncor to Conduct Fire Extinguisher Training

NOTICE: Suncor will conduct Fire Extinguisher Training on Friday, Oct. 17, at the Suncor Fire Training Center from 12 - 3 p.m. The training will be performed at the Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds. During the training sessions there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Former Colorado House Speaker Ruben Valdez

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today ordered the United States and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, to honor former Colorado House Speaker Ruben Valdez, the first Hispanic House Speaker in Colorado.  Valdez passed on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019. Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019.

I-70 Travel Advisory

The Washington Street (Exit 275A) ramp from eastbound I-70 will be closed during overnight hours for five nights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. from Sunday, October 13 to Thursday, October 17. The closure is necessary while crews replace bridge expansion joints and make other ramp improvements to maximize driver safety. The ramp will reopen by 5:30 a.m. each morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, through 6 p.m. Thursday,
Oct. 10.

*WHAT...Light drizzle and freezing drizzle changing to all snow from north to south overnight. Snow will likely be heaviest during the Thursday morning commute. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with up to 6 inches in the foothills.

* WHERE...The Front Range Foothills and I-25 Urban Corridor.

* WHEN...From 10 p.m. this evening to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Free Health Clinic

Yahweh Health Care, Adams County Human Services community partner, will host a FREE health clinic on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 9-11 a.m. It will be in the Community Partners Lobby of the Human Services Center, 11860 Pecos St., Westminster. No insurance is required to attend, and it’s walk-in appointments only. The clinic will provide free health assessments, preventative care, and screening and referral services.

A freeze warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, through 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 20 expected. 

* WHERE...Northeast and East Central Colorado, including the  Denver Metro area. 

* WHEN...Freezing temperatures as early as 10 PM Wednesday. 

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. 

Master Gardener Spring 2020 Classes

The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for spring 2020 classes. Classes will be held every other Friday from Jan. 24–April 3, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with a lunch break, at The Ranch Events Complex, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland. Apply online.
