CDOT Announces Delays and Ramp Closures on Westbound I-76
On Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 8 p.m., motorists should expect delays overnight on westbound Interstate 76 while crews shift travel lanes onto new detour pavement. Westbound I-76 will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. on Sunday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
Crews will temporarily close the westbound I-76 off-ramp to 96th Avenue (exit 11) starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday in order to move temporary barrier and restripe the highway. All off-ramp traffic will be directed one mile west to the 88th Avenue off-ramp (exit 10).
Southbound US Highway 85 direct access to westbound I-76 will close at 104th Avenue starting at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 4. A temporary full closure is necessary to complete striping for the new traffic pattern at the ramp junction. To access westbound I-76 from southbound US 85, motorists may use westbound 104th Avenue to southbound (left) Brighton Road to enter westbound I-76 at 96th Avenue.
All ramps and lane closures will reopen by 5:00 a.m. on Monday. This work will be rescheduled for the evening of Monday, Dec. 5 if weather delays the traffic shift.
All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Detour Routes
To access 96th Avenue from westbound I-76 during the 96th off-ramp closure, the signed detour will direct motorists to continue past 96th Avenue, exit the highway at 88th Avenue (exit 10), turn east (left) on 88th Avenue, turn north (left) to enter eastbound I-76 for approximately one mile and take the 96th Avenue (exit 11) off-ramp.
To access westbound I-76 from southbound US 85, motorists may use westbound 104th Avenue to southbound (left) Brighton Road to enter westbound I-76 at 96th Avenue.
This work is part of the I-76 at US Highway 85 reconstruction project. An eastbound I-76 traffic shift is anticipated later this month. Shifting traffic onto the detour pavement allows permanent construction to begin on the outside lanes of I-76 and US 85.
