Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco Honored with Award

Commissioner Chaz TedescoAdams County Community Partner Foster Source introduced the Charles “Chaz” Tedesco Champion Award and awarded it to namesake Commissioner Chaz Tedesco at the organization’s fall fundraiser in November 2019.

This is a new award that will be given annually, and it will recognize someone who encompasses Foster Source’s three values: education, connection, and nourishment, explains Renee Bernhard, Founder and Executive Director, Foster Source.

“Commissioner Tedesco has been super supportive and engaged with our organization in every aspect—he’s sat on panels, volunteered, introduced us to many people, and become a financial donor,” says Bernhard. “With his background—spending time in care—we decided to name the award after him. He’s a great role model, and he really understands what the foster care experience looks like and what it takes to soften that experience.”

“Receiving this award was a complete surprise, and I am beyond honored. This organization is incredibly close to my heart,” says Tedesco. “Growing up in the system, there weren’t as many resources available as there are today. Foster Source focuses on the whole family—not just the children—and that is such a unique and special approach and why they will always be a special organization to me.”
