Commissioner Steve O’Dorisio Elected Board Chair for 2023
Commissioner Lynn Baca Selected as Vice-Chair
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Adams County Board of Commissioners unanimously elected Commissioner Steve O’Dorisio as board chair for 2023. O’Dorisio was first elected to represent District 4 as commissioner in 2014 and won re-election in 2018 and 2022.
“It is an honor to represent the folks in Adams County as chair,” said O’Dorisio. “Our board is comprised of a solid team of leaders with a variety of life experiences and perspectives. This makes the Adams County Board of Commissioners among the most influential and dynamic teams in the state. I look forward to a productive and exciting year,” O’Dorisio continues. “We have many challenges to take on this next year, including housing, transportation, public health, and cleaner air and water.”
O’Dorisio inherits the board chair role from Commissioner Lynn Baca. Commissioner Baca, representing District 5, was chosen unanimously as the board’s vice-chair for 2023. Baca served as chair in 2022 and some significant achievements include hiring the new County Manager Noel Bernal, launching the first Adams County Health Department on Jan. 1, 2023, and hosting the National Association of Counties Conference in July 2022.
"This past year was a transitional one serving as chair of the board,” said Baca. “I am proud of the progress we’ve made in such a short period of time. From addressing the needs of our growing population to implementing new policies and programs, we have made strides in improving the quality of life for all residents in Adams County. I would like to thank my fellow board members and the community for their support and dedication to making our county a better place. I look forward to continuing to work together and making an even greater impact in the future."
Board Chair Steve O’Dorisio formerly served the residents of Adams County as a deputy district attorney for the 17th Judicial District of Colorado where he prosecuted a variety of crimes and sought justice by balancing the interests of the victim, the community, and the defendant. He continuously strives to make sure vulnerable residents have opportunities and everyone has a voice.
When he is not bolstering regional connectivity, O’Dorisio can be found innovating new strategies to retrofit historic neighborhoods with sidewalks and safe routes to schools or guiding the adoption of policies to mitigate the impacts of growth and new development.
