Adams County Receives SolSmart Gold Award for Solar Energy Growth
SolSmart, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative to help communities increase the use of solar power, has awarded Adams County a gold designation as a national leader in advancing solar energy. The county is one of just 40 nationwide to receive the gold designation, the highest level awarded.

Adams County celebrated the completion of the First Appearance Center, two new courtrooms with jury boxes, and more with a ceremony at the Justice Center at 1100 Judicial Center Drive in Brighton on Friday, July 21.

Adams County Commissioner Eva J. Henry received the Inclusionary America Award presented by Building One America at their annual Leadership Awards presentation Thursday, July 20 in Philadelphia. Commissioner Henry was recognized for her efforts to increase inclusivity for county residents while improving access to affordable housing.

Colorado Master Gardener Fall 2017 Program
The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for fall 2017 evening classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6–9 p.m., Sept. 26–Nov. 30. Master Gardeners are part of the outreach program of Colorado State University Extension; a statewide network including Master Gardeners and CSU faculty and staff who provide lifelong educational programs for all Coloradans in their local communities using research-based information.
Governor Orders Flags Lowered for South Metro Firefighter Mike Freeman
Gov. Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Friday, July 21, 2017, on all public buildings statewide in memory of South Metro Firefighter Engineer Mike Freeman. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, July 13, 5-10 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded.
