FAA Public Scoping Meeting for Spaceport Colorado
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is preparing a Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) to assess the potential environmental impacts of the Adams County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)’s proposal to operate a commercial space launch site at the Front Range Airport (FRA).
FTG is a 3,200-acre general aviation airport located in the northeast quadrant of the Denver metropolitan area and approximately 7 miles southeast of the Denver International Airport in Adams County, Colorado. The Adams County BOCC proposes to operate a commercial space launch site at FTG, called “Spaceport Colorado,” and offer the site to one or more commercial launch operators for the operation of horizontal take-off and horizontal landing reusable launch vehicles (RLVs). To operate a commercial space launch site, the Adams County BOCC must obtain a launch site operator license from the FAA. Under the Proposed Action to be addressed in the PEA, the FAA would issue a launch site operator license to the BOCC for the operation of a commercial space launch site at FTG, and would also provide conditional approval of the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) showing the launch site boundary. To provide you with more information about the proposed project and FAA’s environmental review process, and to solicit your comments to inform the scope of the PEA, the FAA invites you to attend a public scoping meeting at the following date, time, and location:
Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 5-8 p.m.
