Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 - Gov. John Hickenlooper has updated this morning’s flag order following the President’s proclamation this afternoon. Gov. Hickenlooper now has ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings, until sunset on Sunday Sep. 2, 2018, to honor the late Senator John McCain, and as proclaimed by President Donald Trump.
“John McCain dedicated his life to serving this country,” said Governor John Hickenlooper. “We (and the world) lost an incredible leader. He could never have imagined how much he’ll be missed.”
Fill A Backpack Drive to Benefit A Precious Child
Adams County has partnered with the nonprofit organization, A Precious Child, on its Fill A Backpack program. The Fill A Backpack program ensures underprivileged children get to start the first day of school feeling confident and prepared to succeed academically.
Gummball 5K Run & Walk
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Adams County Foundation are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Gummball 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, 9 a.m. at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. CDOT News: Full Closures Coming on North I-25 Express Lanes Project
Summer work is ramping up on the I-25 North Express Lanes project. Beginning in July, crews will be performing overhead sign installation and beginning paving operations, which will require major impacts to the highway.
Beginning Tuesday, July 16, motorists can expect nine nights of full closures on I-25 in various locations between 104th Avenue and E-470/NW Parkway. Detour routes will be in place and motorists will detour around the full closure using Huron Street to the west and Washington Street to the east.
Children and Family Services Awarded Seals of Recognition
The Adams County Children and Family Services Division, under the Human Services Department, was awarded two seals from the Human Rights Campaign. These are the You Are Welcome Here seal, which certifies the division as an LGBTQ welcoming and affirming agency, and the Recognized Innovator in Supporting and Serving LGBTQ Youth & Families seal, the highest level of recognition available in 2019.

Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Former Colorado Legislator Tilman Bishop
DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis ordered the United States and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, to honor former Colorado legislator Tilman Bishop. Bishop served 28 years in the Colorado legislature. Bishop passed on Sunday, June 16, 2019 in Grand Junction. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Colorado State Patrol Trooper Killed in the Line of Duty
June 15, 2019 - Gov. Jared Polis ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings immediately, until sunset on the day of the memorial service, to honor Colorado State Trooper William Moden.
Services for Moden are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Denver First Church at 3800 E. Hampden Ave. in Englewood. It is open to the public.
