Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben
Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in honor of Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben, who lived in Colorado Springs with his family.
Cribben, 33, died on Nov. 4 of injuries sustained from small arms fire. He was serving in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Cribben began his military service on Nov. 21, 2002 as a Military Police Officer. SFC Cribben deployed three times with the 716th Military Police Battalion. He deployed to Egypt in support of Bright Star in 2005, to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2006, and to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. SFC Cribben also deployed to Afghanistan with 2nd Battalion, 10th SFG (A), in September 2017. During his career, Cribben received numerous awards, including two Bronze Medals, the Purple Heart, and Meritorious Service Medal.
He is survived by his mother, Leslie, father, Joseph, wife, Shelly, and sons, Connor and Wyatt.
