Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Dec. 2, on all public buildings statewide in memory of Colorado State Patrol Trooper Cody Donahue. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.
Trooper Donahue, 34, was struck and killed while investigating a crash on I-25 south of Castle Rock on the afternoon of November 25, 2016. He had served as a Colorado State Trooper for 11 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Members of the public are welcome to attend services which will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 at the Denver First Church of the Nazarene, 3800 East Hampden Ave., in Englewood.
Trooper Donahue is the third Colorado State Trooper to be killed in the line of duty in the past 18 months.

I-25/I-70 Travel Advisory
The southbound I-25 ramp to eastbound I-70 will be closed during overnight hours for five nights from 9 p.m.-5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3. The closure is necessary while crews replace bridge joints and make safety improvements. The ramp will reopen by 5:30 a.m. each morning.
Suncor to Conduct Fire Extinguisher Training
NOTICE: Suncor will conduct Fire Extinguisher Training on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Suncor Fire Training Center from 1 - 3 p.m. The training will be performed at the Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds. During the training sessions there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. "Shingle Mountain" Removed Thanks to Public/Private Partnership
Adams County Commissioners were joined by representatives from Colorado Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Fiore and Sons Construction, and Republic Services to celebrate the last load of shingles leaving a property near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Interstate 76. More than 112,000 cubic yards of shingles were illegally dumped on this site leading to a long legal battle between the county and the previous owner of the property. The county's efforts to enforce the code violations at this site date back to January 2015.
Suncor to Conduct Marine Spill Exercise
NOTICE: Suncor's Emergency Response Team will conduct emergency response simulations on the following dates, times, and locations:
- Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019,8 a.m.-4 p.m., Sand Creek, Commerce City
- Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., South Platte River near E. 104th Avenue, Thornton
During the exercises, an oil containment boom will be deployed as part of simulated release scenarios. No materials will be released into the river. Local stakeholders, regulatory agencies and local government officials have been notified.
Governor Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Patriot Day, Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary
DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis today ordered flags to be lowered to half staff on all public buildings statewide on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from sunrise to sunset to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. This is also in recognition of Patriot Day, which was designated by Congress in 2001.
