DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, as directed by President Biden, ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset for 30 days, starting on the day of former President Carter’s passing, December 29, including a National Day of Mourning on January 9th, to honor the life and service of James Earl Carter, the 39th President of the United States.
“Today, as America begins to mourn the death of Former President Jimmy Carter I encourage Coloradans to join in honoring his 100 remarkable years of life, service, and leadership. we must continue to further the ideals that Former President Carter believed in, including deep compassion and protecting human rights and dignity,” said Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
I/76/I-25 Travel Advisory
On the night of Sunday, Aug. 4, the eastbound I-76 ramp to southbound I-25 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while crews repair the bridge deck and make other safety improvements. CDOT anticipates medium travel impact to motorists traveling the affected route during overnight hours.
62nd Ave. Roadway Repairs Completed
Adams County Public Works worked on an urgent safety issue to repair roadway on the west 62nd Ave. bridge over I-76 on Huron St. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. The road work is complete and traffic was flowing again at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. The repair work was originally scheduled to be complete by Monday afternoon.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Sergeant Major James Sartor
DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today ordered the United States and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, July 27, 2019, to honor Sergeant Major James Sartor.
Sergeant Major Sartor died of injuries sustained from small arms fire on July 13, 2019 in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. He was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019.

Japan-based PD AeroSpace Visits Adams County
Adams County welcomed representatives from Japan-based PD AeroSpace on their first visit to the Adams County Government Center in Brighton on Wednesday, July 25. PD AeroSpace signed a letter of intent with Adams County in April to operate their reusable sub-orbital spaceplane, currently in development, at Colorado Air and Space Port.

Board of County Commissioners Creates Opportunity Zones Task Force to Spur New Investments in the Community
The federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 established the Opportunity Zones program with the goal of encouraging economic development in urban and rural areas that have not kept pace with the rest of the county’s growing economy. The program provides tax incentives for private investors to direct unrealized capital gains into funds dedicated to projects within these zones. To provide guidance and vision for the development of the nine zones within Adams County, the Board of Commissioners has created an Opportunity Zones Task Force.
2019 Master Gardener Classes
Colorado Master Gardener Fall 2019 Classes
The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is accepting applications for fall 2019 classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., from Sept. 17–Nov. 21 at 6 Garden Center, Broomfield. Contact the Colorado State University Extension office in Adams County at 303.637.8100 or email Cassey Anderson for an application or more information. Application deadline is Monday, Aug. 19.
Adams County will offer free recycling for live Christmas trees after the holiday season. Residents may drop off their Christmas trees Sunday, Dec. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 12, from sunrise to sunset, at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. Signs will direct residents to the drop-off site. Please remove all lights, ornaments, and decor. Please note: tree limbs, yard waste, or trees from commercial operations will not be accepted.
