Notice: Suncor ERT will conduct live fire training on Thursday, July 11, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Suncor Fire Training Center. During the training there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. In addition, Suncor will conduct fire extinguisher training on Friday, July 12, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Board Approves 2020 Office Closure Schedule
The Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution 2019-646 Establishing Office Closures for 2020. The county will observe 12 scheduled closures, and employees will have an additional Floating Holiday, in 2020. All government offices will be closed on the 12 noted closure dates.
Board of County Commissioners Adopts 2020 Budget
The Adams County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted the 2020 Adams County budget at public hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Top priorities in the 2020 budget, set at $574,283,381, a 10.9% increase from 2019, include education and economic prosperity, a high-performing and fiscally sustainable government, quality of life, safe and reliable infrastructure, and community enrichment.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Half Staff on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
DENVER - Today, Gov. Polis ordered the Colorado and American flags be lowered to half staff on all public buildings statewide from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, in recognition of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, and as proclaimed by President Trump.
Suncor to Conduct Testing on Flare Unit
On Thursday, December 5, Suncor’s Commerce City refinery will conduct testing on one of its flare units in Plant 1. The work will begin at 8 a.m. and completed by approximately 6 p.m. As a result of this activity, increased flaring with potentially larger flames and smoke could occur from the flare stack. Additional updates will be provided if the refinery experiences increased flaring for an extended period of time.
Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco Honored with Award
Adams County Community Partner Foster Source introduced the Charles “Chaz” Tedesco Champion Award and awarded it to namesake Commissioner Chaz Tedesco at the organization’s fall fundraiser in November 2019.
Adams County on Top of Job Growth in the U.S. in 2019
Adams County leads the nation in job growth, according to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Bureau gathered employment statistics from 355 of the largest U.S. counties from June 2018 to June 2019.

Construction activities will halt at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 for the holiday weekend and will resume at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Long-term closures will remain in place.
Adams County Celebrates National Adoption Day
Today, 20 children in Adams County welcomed a new start on National Adoption Day. A special celebration took place at the Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Dr., Brighton. The Board of County Commissioners, Human Services Department, and the 17th Judicial District hosted the adoptive families. Adams County projects a total of 160 adoptions will be finalized by the end of the year.
Adams County Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Spaceport Cornwall
Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with United Kingdom-based Spaceport Cornwall to share resources, operations, knowledge, and launch systems for mutual benefit. The agreement was signed Nov. 8 by Adams County Manager Raymond Gonzales and Spaceport Cornwall Director Miles Carden.
Commissioners Award $10.6 Million in Open Space Grants
Today, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) awarded more than $10.6 million in open space grants for 20 projects thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax. Funding for this grant cycle came from revenues from the first half of the 2019 Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999.
This year, the Adams County Open Space Sales Tax is celebrating 20 years. Over these years, more than 538 projects have received funding, totaling more than $212 million dollars invested into parks and open space across Adams County.
