Traffic Advisory: Closures to I-25 Off-Ramps to 136th Ave. and Northwest Parkway/E-470

CDOT

As part of the North I-25 Express Lanes: 120th Avenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470 project, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor partner, Hamon Infrastructure, will require an overnight northbound I-25 off-ramp closure to 136th Ave. and Northwest Parkway/E-470 in order to install a safety-critical barrier.

Motorists should plan to add an additional five to 10 minutes to their travel time to detour around the closures. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Wednesday, Jan. 10 – 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Full closure of the northbound I-25 off-ramp to Northwest Parkway/E-470. To detour around this closure, motorists traveling on northbound I-25 will exit at Colorado Highway 7 and head west on CO 7 to enter southbound I-25. From southbound I-25, motorists may exit on either eastbound E-470 or westbound Northwest Parkway. This detour will add an additional five minutes to the trip. See attached detour map.

Thursday, Jan. 11 – 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.: Full closure of the northbound I-25 off-ramp to 136th Ave. To detour around this closure, motorists traveling on northbound I-25 will exit at 120th Ave. and proceed east to Washington St., then turn north on Washington St. to reach 136th Ave. This detour will add an additional 10 minutes to the trip. See attached detour map.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The North I-25 Express Lanes project from 120th Ave. to Northwest Parkway/E-470 is a $97.5 million project that will improve safety, capacity and user choice to a rapidly developing region.

This project will continue the previous Express Lanes project, which was completed on I-25 between US 36 and 120th Ave., and will extend the Express Lanes to Northwest Parkway/E-470. The project will add capacity on I-25 up to Northwest Parkway/E-470 and construct a new asphalt surface from 120th Ave. to Colorado Highway 7. Motorists can expect the roadway to be in its final alignment by early 2019.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with periodic night and weekend work. Motorists can expect various lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-25 as well as periodic ramp closures. Traffic will be maintained during peak travel times throughout construction.

About Express Lanes: Express Lanes increase roadway capacity and help to manage congestion on the highways. The use of toll pricing during peak travel times reduces delays, manages congestion, and maintains reliable travel times. Express Lanes currently are open between 120th Ave. and US 36 on North I-25, US 36 from Denver to Boulder, and on the I-70 Mountain Express Lane.
