DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 to honor Associate Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, and as proclaimed by President Donald J. Trump.
Suncor Refinery Flare Work - Sept. 24
Beginning Monday, Sept. 24, Suncor will conduct work on one of the flare units at the Commerce City refinery. This planned work will allow Suncor to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory requirements under the Refinery Sector Rule that goes into effect Jan. 30, 2019.
Telephone Town Hall
Over 2,000 Adams County residents dialed in to the Board of Commissioners’ telephone town hall on Tuesday, Sept. 18, to air their views and concerns on issues such as parking, open space, and road maintenance.
Commissioner Eva Henry thanked the participants on the call and their involvement in their county government. “Adams County encompasses a huge area,” she said. “If you have an issue, don’t assume we already know. Contact us and let us know what’s going on so we can help.”

Traffic Advisory - 120th Ave. at Highway 85
All lanes in both directions on 120th Ave. at Highway 85 will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 13, due to construction on the Union Pacific Railroad line. Highway 85 will remain open for the duration of construction, and a detour route with signs will direct traffic around the construction site. Please plan to take an alternate route on Thursday to avoid delays.
Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered to Observe Patriot Day, Annual Remembrance of 9/11
Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. This also is in recognition of Patriot Day, which was designated by Congress in 2001.
Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training at Commerce City Refinery
Notice: Suncor ERT will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, Sept. 6, 7 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Suncor Fire Training Center. During the training there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, we will cease all ERT training and proper alarms will be sounded. Adams County Animal Shelter/Adoption Center (ACASAC) employees and volunteers, accompanied by Adams County Commissioners and the Adams County Manager’s Office, celebrated the groundbreaking of what will be the new Riverdale Animal Shelter on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
City and County of Denver to Test the Wireless Emergency Alert System
On Wednesday, Sept. 5, between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., the City and County of Denver will issue a test message through the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA). This system allows government and public safety officials to send critical information to an individual’s cell phone or other mobile device during an emergency. The Sept. 5 alert is expected to reach approximately one million residents and visitors in the test area.

Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 - Gov. John Hickenlooper has updated this morning’s flag order following the President’s proclamation this afternoon. Gov. Hickenlooper now has ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings, until sunset on Sunday Sep. 2, 2018, to honor the late Senator John McCain, and as proclaimed by President Donald Trump.
“John McCain dedicated his life to serving this country,” said Governor John Hickenlooper. “We (and the world) lost an incredible leader. He could never have imagined how much he’ll be missed.”
