Adams County Partners with Chambers of Commerce to Provide Mini-Grants to Local Small Businesses

As part of its COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, Adams County has partnered with several local Chambers of Commerce to develop a series of mini-grants in three categories to support small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 situation. Federal funding for the grants comes from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress.

Adams County Plans Four-Day Schedule and New Safety Measures When Re-Opening Buildings on June 2

As part of its COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, Adams County has scheduled a re-opening of county buildings beginning on Tuesday, June 2. Most county buildings – including the Government Center, Human Services Center, and Motor Vehicle locations – will be closed on Mondays as the county transitions to a four-day operational schedule, although some departments and elected offices will maintain their current schedules.

Adams County to Observe May 15 as a Day of Remembrance

To honor those who have lost their lives due to COVID-19, Adams County will join many municipalities, counties, and sports organizations across the state in a series of remembrance events. Moments of silence will be observed at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15; Friday, May 22; and Friday, May 29.

Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies are encouraged to turn their lights and sirens on at the designated days and times, and the governor’s office has asked all municipalities and law enforcement agencies to participate.

County Receives $90 Million in CARES Funding to Support COVID-19 Response

Adams County has received $90 million from the federal government under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funding will cover costs that are necessary to respond to the ongoing public health emergency related to COVID-19. The county will distribute 45% of the allocated funds to municipalities that were ineligible to receive direct funding under the CARES Act. Specific allocation details will be released in the next week and will follow similar distribution formulas used by the county when allocating funds to Adams County municipalities.
