Vaccination Critical to Keep Measles Out of Colorado

Denver, Colo. — In the midst of the largest measles outbreak in the U.S. in nearly three decades, public health officials representing Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties are calling on parents and caregivers to keep measles out of Colorado by making sure kindergartners are vaccinated before school starts.
 

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training

Notice: Suncor ERT will conduct live fire training on Thursday, Aug. 8 , 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Suncor Fire Training Center. During the training there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. BOCC Proclaims August Child Support Awareness Month

Nationwide, August is celebrated as Child Support Awareness Month, and today it’s been proclaimed so in Adams County by the Board of County Commissioners.

“Often, Child Support Services workers are made out to be the bad person,” says Wisler Jacquecin, Administrator, Adams County Child Support Services (CSS) Division. “Hopefully, the awareness activities during this month will show we’re here to be advocates for the children and to provide assistance to the parents where we can.”

US 36 - Traffic Delays

Anticipate traffic delays on US 36 between Westminster and Boulder Monday, Aug. 5, through Wednesday, Aug.7, 10 p.m.-5 a.m. These delays will be due to installation of green screen devices on top of the concrete barriers which separate east and westbound lanes of traffic.  This screen is intended to decrease headlight glare as well as increase nighttime visibility.

Jared Polis today ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide immediately, until sunset on Aug. 8, to honor the victims of the shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, and as proclaimed by President Donald J. A PROCLAMATION

Plague Confirmed in Prairie Dogs at Numerous Commerce City Sites

Tri-County Health Department is working with numerous sites in Commerce City regarding plague-infested fleas affecting the prairie dog colonies in the region. Several areas have been closed voluntarily, signs have been posted, and the prairie dogs’ holes are being treated with insecticide to kill any fleas that could transmit the disease to prairie dogs, humans, and pets. These areas are affected until further notice:

I/76/I-25 Travel Advisory

On the night of Sunday, Aug. 4,  the eastbound I-76 ramp to southbound I-25 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while crews repair the bridge deck and make other safety improvements. CDOT anticipates medium travel impact to motorists traveling the affected route during overnight hours. 

62nd Ave. Roadway Repairs Completed

Adams County Public Works worked on an urgent safety issue to repair roadway on the west 62nd Ave. bridge over I-76 on Huron St. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. The road work is complete and traffic was flowing again at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. The repair work was originally scheduled to be complete by Monday afternoon.

 

Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Sergeant Major James Sartor

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today ordered the United States and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, July 27, 2019, to honor Sergeant Major James Sartor. 

Sergeant Major Sartor died of injuries sustained from small arms fire on July 13, 2019 in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. He was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado. 

Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
