Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide on Monday, Sept. 11 in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. This also is in recognition of Patriot Day, which was designated by Congress in 2001.

Road improvements and bridge repairs start soon

Expect delays on US 85 southbound at Colorado State Highway 7 / Bridge St. in Adams County through Saturday morning, Sept. 16 for Bridge Work. Crews are rehabilitating the bridge deck on US 85 southbound, requiring a single lane closure on the bridge. Motorists should prepare for delays.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Traffic will be restricted to one lane on US 85 southbound at Colorado State Highway 7/Bridge St. through 7:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9.   The lane will reopen to traffic and close again starting 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10 through 7 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16.

NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, Sept. 7, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. NOTICE:  County Road 2 (CR 2), also known as E. 15th Ave., will be closed between Bradbury-Krebs Road to US Highway 36 on Tuesday Sept. 5-Wednesday Sept. 13. Repairs will be made on the concrete low water crossing at Bijou Creek.

The Adams County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Aug. 29, appointed Raymond H. Gonzales as county manager. Gonzales has been serving as interim county manager since April 2017. 

Traffic will be restricted to one lane on US 85 northbound at Colorado State Highway 7 through 6 a.m., Friday, Sept. 1, for pavement repair work on the bridge deck. Motorists should be prepared for delays.

While work is scheduled to take place during off-peak travel times (nights and early mornings), crews found the pavement surface on this stretch of US 85 northbound to be deteriorating rapidly, requiring immediate permanent repairs that will take longer to fix.  Work should be completed with both lanes open to traffic by Friday morning,.    

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in coordination with Commerce City, Adams County and the City and County of Denver, is conducting a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study for the Vasquez/I-270 interchange and Vasquez Boulevard between 52nd Avenue on the south and 64th Avenue on the north.

Honoring the history and heritage of the region, the Adams County Board of Commissioners today announced Riverdale Animal Shelter as the name of the county's new facility scheduled to begin construction in 2018. 

"This exciting project will not only carry the historic Riverdale name, but the design of the building also connects to the agricultural heritage of the area," said Board Chair Eva Henry.
