Foster Parents Needed
Do you have a heart for school-aged children? Do you have school-aged children? If so, Adams County is looking to expand the team of foster parents who would care for school-aged children in need of a temporary home. These children are from your neighborhood and perhaps the very school your children attend. Please join the Adams County Foster Care team for an information meeting on Saturday, Dec. 16, 8:30–10 a.m., at the Pete Mirelez Human Services Center, 11860 N. Pecos St., Westminster.
Flags Lowered to Half Staff on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 — Flags will be lowered to half-staff tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in recognition of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Flags should be at half-staff for the entire day on Thursday.
I-76 at US 85 Reconstruction Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that the reconstruction of Interstate 76 at US Highway 85 is now complete. The most noticeable changes are along westbound I-76 where the project improved the curve approaching the southbound US 85 merge area and added an additional lane from southbound US 85 to 96th Avenue.
Adams County Commissioners Award $5.9 Million in Open Space Grants
Funds were awarded for 17 projects across the county
Thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) awarded $5.9 million in open space grants for 17 projects during the December 5, 2017 public hearing. Funding for this grant cycle came from revenues from the first half of 2017 of the Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999.
Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben
Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in honor of Sergeant First Class Stephen B. Cribben, who lived in Colorado Springs with his family.
Cribben, 33, died on Nov. 4 of injuries sustained from small arms fire. He was serving in Logar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

The Adams County Animal Shelter is currently assisting with sheltering services for Brighton Animal Shelter while their location is impacted by construction in the area. All impounded and/or found animals will now be housed at 10705 Fulton St., Brighton. Adams County Seeks Public Input on Improving Access and Mobility within County Right-of-Way Facilities
Public Forum on December 15 to share progress on the County’s compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Adams County will host a public forum at the Pete Mirelez Human Services Center on Friday, Dec. 15, 3-4:00 p.m., to share information about upcoming projects and to gather feedback on the County's plan to ensure access and mobility for all users of public rights-of-way owned by Adams County. The Human Services Center is located at 11860 N. Pecos St. in Westminster.
County's CJCC to Hold Forum Addressing Opiate Epidemic
The Adams County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) presents a forum featuring Sam Quinones, award-winning author of Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic, on Monday, Dec. 4, 5:30 p.m., at the Pete Mirelez Human Services Center, 11860 Pecos St., Westminster.

According to unofficial election results of the 2017 Coordinated Election, five contests are within recount margins. They are:
