With winter around the corner, Adams County residents will soon be impacted by snow on county rounds. To ensure the safety of residents, Adams County Public Works will host its annual Snow Inspection Event on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m.–2 p.m., at the fleet facility, 4955 E. 74th Ave., Commerce City.
Adams County Public Works maintains the entire roadway network throughout the county and prides itself on reliable and quality work to ensure the safety and readiness of personnel and equipment for the upcoming 2017–2018 snow season.
Attendees are invited to view Adams County’s fleet of trucks and snow removal equipment and talk with Public Works personnel.
Coroner Seeks and Obtains Permission to Release Amended Autopsy Report
After the recent ruling by Adams County District Judge Seedorf, Adams County Coroner Monica Broncucia-Jordan filed an emergency motion with the Denver District Court in hopes the court would authorize the release of the amended autopsy report for Elijah McClain. That motion was granted today by Judge Baumann.

Adams County Receives $1,144,816.02 from the Metropolitan Football Stadium District Board
At public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 20, Adams County received $1,144,816.02 from the Metropolitan Football Stadium District Board. Taxpayers funded 75% of the Broncos’ stadium cost through a one-tenth of one percent sales tax. Last month, the Metropolitan Football Stadium District Board voted unanimously to approve a share back amount of just over $41 million. The amount the county received is based on the breakdown of how much of the district tax was collected from each municipality.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor the Passing of Queen Elizabeth II
DENVER — Governor Jared Polis ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on the day of interment, in honor of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, as proclaimed by President Biden.

Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Peery
DENVER — Today, Governor Jared Polis ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide for Monday, August 15, 2022 to honor the life of Deputy Andrew Peery, a decorated and dedicated member of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed in the line of duty. The funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00am at New Life Church, 11025 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.
Adams County Commissioners Award More Than $18 Million in Open Space Grants
On Tuesday, Aug. 9, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) awarded more than $18 million in open space grants for 25 projects thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax. Funding for the spring 2022 grant cycle came from revenues from the second half of the 2022 Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999, and in perpetuity in 2020.
Adams County Awards $800,000 in Community Enrichment Grants
Adams County provides financial support to nonprofit programs each year through the Community Enrichment Grant. The purpose of the grant is to support programs that assist Adams County residents with their basic needs and to help people become self-sufficient.
This year there were 63 applications for $800,000 of funding. The grant requests totaled more than $2.5 million, and approximately one third of those organizations received their full funding request and were recognized by the Board of County Commissioners at public hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Hundreds of Families Served Through Back-to-School Bash Event
On Saturday, July 30, Adams County Human Services provided school supplies for 426 low-income Adams County families at the Back-to-School Bash event. 1,073 children received backpacks and other school supplies such as notebooks, binders, folders, sanitizing wipes, pencil boxes, pens, dry-erase markers, hoodies, socks, and more.
Suncor ERT Boom Deployment Exercise - Aug. 26, 2022
Suncor’s Emergency Response Team will conduct an oil spill exercise today, Friday, Aug. 26, on the South Platte River near 104th Ave. in Thornton.
The team will practice deploying oil containment booms in a simulated release scenario beginning around 1 p.m. No oils, chemicals, or other materials will be placed into the river, with the exception of rope and boom which will be removed at the completion of the exercise.
