Adams County will offer free recycling for live Christmas trees after the holiday season. Residents may drop off their Christmas trees from Tuesday, Dec. 27, through Monday, Jan. 16, at Adams County Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Road, Brighton, from sunrise to sunset. Signs will direct residents to the self drop-off site.
Ornaments, tinsel, garlands, flock, nails, and stands must be removed before trees are dropped off. There is a limit of two trees per family. Please note: tree limbs, yard waste, or trees from commercial operations will not be accepted at the Regional Park.

Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered for Adams County Firefighter Brett Anderson
Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Friday, April 28, on all public buildings statewide in memory of Adams County Firefighter Brett Anderson. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.
Adams County Wins Metro Vision Award from DRCOG
Adams County received a 2017 Metro Vision Award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) in partnership with the City of Brighton for work on the District Plan. Representatives from the county’s Long Range Strategic Planning Department accepted the award on Thursday, April 26, at a ceremony at the Sheraton Downtown Denver.
Traffic Alert: E-470 Off-Ramp to Southbound I-25 Closure
The E-470 Off-Ramp to southbound I-25 will be closed from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, April 24.
The detour route for westbound E-470 to access southbound I-25 is to take the northbound I-25 exit, travel north CO 7/Baseline Road, exit and rejoin southbound I-25. The detour route for eastbound E-470 to access southbound I-25 is to take the northbound exit, travel north to CO 7/Baseline Road, exit and rejoin southbound I-25.
The closure is for barrier placement as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation's North I-25 Express Lanes project.
County Wins Government Innovation Award for Training Program
The Adams County Training and Development department has received the Outstanding Achievement in Local Government Innovation Award from the Alliance for Innovation for the Impact Adams program. County representatives accepted the award today at the 2017 Transforming Local Government Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Impact Adams has three distinct programs dedicated to helping county employees learn, grow, and contribute to the community—Evolve U, Develop Us, and We Care.
Clear Creek Corridor Master Plan Community Events
Clear Creek runs approximately seven miles through southwest Adams County from Sheridan Blvd. to the South Platte River Confluence. Adams County currently owns approximately 178 acres of open space adjacent to Clear Creek. A regional trail and several trail access points have been developed through this corridor, but currently few other amenities are located along the corridor.
Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor ERT will conduct live fire training on Thursday, April 20, from approximately 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Have Yard or Garden Questions? Ask a Master Gardener
The Colorado State University (CSU) Extension Master Gardeners in Adams County are ready to answer your home yard and garden questions. Master Gardeners are in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from April through October, and can be found at community gardens and garden centers throughout the season. Master Gardeners can answer questions on lawns, vegetable gardens, trees, houseplants, etc. Specially trained Master Gardeners from our Tree Team are also available for home visits to assess tree health for a small fee.
CDOT Announces Lane and Ramp Closures on Westbound I-76 near US Highway 85
On Monday night, April 17, motorists should expect lane and ramp closures on westbound Interstate 76 near US Highway 85 while crews shift travel lanes onto new permanent pavement placed during Phase 1 of the I-76 at US 85 reconstruction project. The southbound US 85 direct access to westbound I-76 will be closed at 104th Avenue from 9 p.m. on Monday, April 17, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 18. A temporary full closure is necessary to move traffic onto the new alignment. Crews will also install an overhead sign structure over southbound US 85 during the full closure.
Community Needs Assessment
Adams County Human Services has partnered with Joining Vision and Action to gather feedback from Adams County residents to help us better serve our communities. Joining Vision and Action will be in our communities and at various locations collecting feedback, in addition to conducting a series of focus groups. We would like to hear from as many residents as possible.
Board of Commissioners Accepts County Manager’s Resignation
The Adams County Board of Commissioners accepted the resignation of County Manager Todd Leopold on Tuesday, April 11. Leopold was originally hired in 2012 as a deputy county administrator before accepting the county manager position in 2013.
