The Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution 2024-544 Establishing Holidays for 2025. The county will observe 12 holiday closures and employees will have an additional Floating Holiday. All government offices will be closed on the 12 noted holidays.
Traffic Advisory: Closures to I-25 Off-Ramps to 136th Ave. and Northwest Parkway/E-470
As part of the North I-25 Express Lanes: 120th Avenue to Northwest Parkway/E-470 project, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor partner, Hamon Infrastructure, will require an overnight northbound I-25 off-ramp closure to 136th Ave. and Northwest Parkway/E-470 in order to install a safety-critical barrier.

Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered in honor of Deputy Zackari Parrish
DENVER — Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all public buildings Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, from sunrise until sunset to honor Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Zackari Parrish as he is laid to rest.
Commissioner Tedesco Named Chair of Urban Drainage Board
Adams County Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco has been named Chair of the Board of Directors of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD).
Tedesco has served on UDFCD’s board for five years, including as Vice Chair in 2017. The UDFCD board is comprised of local mayors, commissioners, city council members, and engineers.
Adams County Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling
Adams County will offer free recycling for live Christmas trees after the holiday season. Residents may drop off their Christmas trees from Tuesday, Dec. 26, through Sunday, Jan. 14, , from sunrise to sunset, at Adams County Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd. Brighton. Signs will direct residents to the self drop-off site.
Ornaments, tinsel, garlands, flock, nails, and stands must be removed before trees are dropped off. There is a limit of two trees per family. Please note: tree limbs, yard waste, or trees from commercial operations will not be accepted at the Regional Park.
County Celebrates Affordable Housing Apartment Complex Groundbreaking with Delwest
Adams County’s Community and Economic Development Department celebrated the groundbreaking of the affordable housing Baker School Apartments complex. The groundbreaking was hosted by the project developer Delwest on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Alisha Reis Named Deputy County Manager of Administrative Services
Alisha Reis has been named Deputy County Manager-Administrative Services for Adams County. In this role, Reis will oversee departments that serve internal county functions, including Budget, Finance, Facilities & Fleet Management, Information Technology & Innovation, and Retirement Administration. Reis will begin on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
Retirement Board Approves Amendment to Change Vesting Period from 10 years to 5
The Adams County Board of Retirement approved an amendment effective Jan. 1, 2018, to the retirement plan to change the vesting period from 10 years to five years for active Tier 3 participants (employees hired in covered employment on or after Jan. 1, 2010). Effective Jan. 1, 2018, Tier 3 participants who have completed five or more years of continuous service and earned service on or after Jan. 1, 2018, will vest in the retirement benefit.
Adams County Commissioners Unanimously Adopt $468 Million Budget for 2018
The Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted the 2018 Adams County budget at public hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Top priorities in the 2018 budget – set at $468,379,584, a 3.8% increase from 2017 – focus on education and economic prosperity, creating a high-performing and fiscally sustainable government, improving quality of life, providing safe and reliable infrastructure, and community enrichment for the fifth-largest county by population in Colorado.

These children are from your neighborhood and perhaps the very school your children attend. Flags Lowered to Half Staff on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 — Flags will be lowered to half-staff tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in recognition of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Flags should be at half-staff for the entire day on Thursday.
