Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags be lowered to half-staff to honor the memory of former President and Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres, and as proclaimed by President Barack Obama. Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on Friday, September 30, 2016.

Celebrated Colorado grower Bob Sakata, 96, died June 7. Bob was a pillar in the community of Brighton and a long time farmer in the area.

Noel Bernal Appointed as Adams County Manager
At a special public hearing on Friday, June 3, the Adams County Board of Commissioners appointed Noel Bernal as County Manager.
Bernal comes from the City of Brownsville, Texas, where he has served as City Manager since 2018. He will start with the county on Monday, Aug. 8.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor the Victims of the Shooting in Highland Park, Illinois
DENVER — Today, Governor Jared Polis ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset, July 9, 2022 as a mark of respect for the victims of the acts of violence perpetrated on July 4, 2022 by a gunman at a 4th of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois as proclaimed by President Biden.

Finalists Named for County Manager Position
The Board of County Commissioners has selected two finalists for the County Manager position. The two finalists are:
- Jody Andrews, Interim City Manager, City of Westminster, CO
- Noel Bernal, City Manager, City of Brownsville, TX
Recruitment has been underway since March for the new County Manager and will conclude in the coming weeks. The two finalists will complete interviews next week.
We will provide information on the new County Manager after the process has been completed.
More Than $1 Million in Scholarships Awarded to County Students
Fifty-eight Adams County high school students were awarded scholarships totaling more than $1 million on Tuesday, May 17, through the Adams County Scholarship Fund. Adams County Commissioners introduced the Scholarship Fund in 2016, making this the seventh group of recipients, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Higher Education's Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative.

Adams County Partner Dawn Aerospace Wins Contract with Blue Canyon Technologies
Dawn Aerospace, a Netherlands-, New Zealand-and U.S.-based space transportation company, has been selected by Blue Canyon Technologies to provide turnkey chemical propulsion systems for the X-SAT Saturn satellite bus. Dawn Aerospace is an Adams County partner with Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP).
