DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, as directed by President Biden, ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset for 30 days, starting on the day of former President Carter’s passing, December 29, including a National Day of Mourning on January 9th, to honor the life and service of James Earl Carter, the 39th President of the United States.
“Today, as America begins to mourn the death of Former President Jimmy Carter I encourage Coloradans to join in honoring his 100 remarkable years of life, service, and leadership. we must continue to further the ideals that Former President Carter believed in, including deep compassion and protecting human rights and dignity,” said Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, July 13, 5-10 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Barr Lake Appreciation Day - July 15
Barr Lake State Park will host Lake Appreciation Day from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The park encourages residents to bring family, friends, groups, and co-workers for volunteer clean-up projects from 8–11 a.m., with a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by fun activities, including canoe instruction, archery demonstrations, face painting, a jumping castle, boat rides, climbing wall, and more. The state park entry fee is waived for participating volunteers, and RSVP is required.

Plant Alarm Drill at Suncor Today
NOTICE: Suncor will be holding a plant alarm drill on Thursday, June 29, at the Suncor Refinery Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds at 1 p.m. The plant alarm will sound signaling the start of the drill, so there will be two alarms today - one at noon for Suncor's standard alarm test, then again at 1 p.m. to mark the beginning of the drill. This is not an emergency situation. If an actual emergency occurs during this time, Suncor will cease the drill.

The new, state-of-the-art Pete Mirelez Human Services Center, currently under construction at 11860 Pecos Street, Westminster, is scheduled to open in early September.
Traffic Alert: Night Closures on I-70 and I-25
Overhead sign structure removal requires the full closure of westbound Interstate 70 at Federal Boulevard (exit 272) on Sunday, June 18, starting at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 19, in time for the morning commute. Northbound I-25 will be closed overnight on Monday, June 19, at Colfax Avenue (exit 210A) from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 20. Single and double lane closures will begin as early as 8 p.m. in advance of planned full highway closures at 11 p.m.

Temporary Water Use Restriction Issued for Clear Creek
Effective Monday, June 12, 2017, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader and the Golden Police Department will limit waterway activities on Clear Creek. These temporary restrictions apply to Clear Creek in unincorporated Jefferson County, as well as those portions of Clear Creek within the City of Golden, including Vanover Park.
Adams County will offer free recycling for live Christmas trees after the holiday season. Residents may drop off their Christmas trees Sunday, Dec. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 12, from sunrise to sunset, at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. Signs will direct residents to the drop-off site. Please remove all lights, ornaments, and decor. Please note: tree limbs, yard waste, or trees from commercial operations will not be accepted.
