Lenore “Angel” Williams Named Adams County Employee of All Seasons

The Adams County Board of Commissioners announced Lenore “Angel” Williams as Adams County’s Employee of All Seasons at the annual Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Angel began her career in 2014 at the former Adams County Animal Shelter/Adoption Center, now Riverdale Animal Shelter, as an Animal Care Technician and was promoted to Shelter Operations Manager in 2016. As part of the county’s recognition program, Angel was nominated and chosen as the Summer Employee of the Season category winner in the Unsung Hero category, which honors individuals for performing high-quality, reliable, and critical work that, if not completed, would compromise operations. This person functions behind the scenes, is willing to improve work situations, and does so without fanfare or being prompted.

Angel’s nomination read: “Heroes save lives, and through focused, persistent, and passionate work, this unsung hero has helped save the lives of thousands of animals, while positively impacting her team and the residents of Adams County. Behind the scenes, she has researched and written dozens of new protocols and lead initiatives, like the Barn Cat program, which saved hundreds of cats. Her advanced animal enrichment program has recently caught the attention of state animal welfare stakeholders, improving the shelter's reputation as we move to the new Riverdale Animal Shelter. Speaking of the new shelter, this unsung hero has dedicated hundreds of hours of her expertise to ensure design features support the highest standards in animal care. Caring equally for people, she developed innovative and engaging ways to onboard new employees during the pandemic and helped her team successfully launch virtual adoptions. While she will never take the credit for it, her contributions will positively impact the shelter and the county for many years to come."

Adams County has approximately 2,200 employees who serve the county’s more than 500,000 residents. To become the Employee of All Seasons, employees are nominated and voted on by their coworkers, the Employee of the Season Committee, and Adams County residents.

The Recognition Luncheon is an annual event to recognize employees who have reached a milestone year with the county and the Employee of the Season award recipients.
