The Adams County Colorado Master Gardener program is accepting applications for Fall 2018 night classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at Crescent Grange, 7901 W. 120th Ave., Broomfield, from Sept. 18–Nov. 29. Contact the Colorado State University Extension office in Adams County at 303.637.8100 or email Cassey Anderson for more information or an application. The deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 24. Applicants must go through an interview process and background check, so don’t delay! There is also a non-volunteer option for a higher course fee.
Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered for Arvada Firefighter
Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 14, on all public buildings statewide in memory of Arvada Firefighter Lieutenant Jim Schaefer. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.
New Pete Mirelez Human Services Center Open Today
The new Pete Mirelez Human Services Center at 11860 Pecos St., Westminster, CO 80234, opened to the public on Monday, Sept. 11. This new 315,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility brings together nearly 800 employees and the more than 500 residents they serve daily.

Gov. Hickenlooper Orders Flags Lowered Monday to Observe Patriot Day, Annual Remembrance of 9/11
Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide on Monday, Sept. 11 in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. This also is in recognition of Patriot Day, which was designated by Congress in 2001.

Traffic Advisory: US85 Southbound at Colorado
Expect delays on US 85 southbound at Colorado State Highway 7 / Bridge St. in Adams County through Saturday morning, Sept. 16 for Bridge Work. Crews are rehabilitating the bridge deck on US 85 southbound, requiring a single lane closure on the bridge. Motorists should prepare for delays.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Traffic will be restricted to one lane on US 85 southbound at Colorado State Highway 7/Bridge St. through 7:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9. The lane will reopen to traffic and close again starting 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10 through 7 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16.
Suncor to Conduct Live Fire Training
NOTICE: Suncor Emergency Response Team will be conducting live fire training on Thursday, Sept. 7, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The live fire training will be conducted at the Plant 1 Fire Training grounds. During the training, there will likely be large flames and thick smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all ERT training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded. Road Closure: County Road 2
NOTICE: County Road 2 (CR 2), also known as E. 15th Ave., will be closed between Bradbury-Krebs Road to US Highway 36 on Tuesday Sept. 5-Wednesday Sept. 13. Repairs will be made on the concrete low water crossing at Bijou Creek.
Board of Commissioners Appoints New County Manager
The Adams County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Aug. 29, appointed Raymond H. Gonzales as county manager. Gonzales has been serving as interim county manager since April 2017.
