The Suncor Fire Department will be conducting live fire training exercises weekly beginning Thursday, Sept. 24, through Thursday, Oct. 29 (see planned schedule below). Weather permitting, activities will begin around 8 a.m. and last until approximately 4 p.m. The exercises will produce large flames and thick smoke periodically throughout the day. The Suncor Fire Department uses water to extinguish the flames produced for these trainings, and does not use PFAS-containing foam in any fire training activities at the Commerce City refinery. In the event of an actual emergency, all training would cease, and proper alarms would be sounded.
