Adams County Celebrates National Adoption Day

Projects 150 adoptions to be finalized in 2017

Adams County will celebrate National Adoption Day by finalizing 12 adoptions on Friday, Nov. 17, with a special celebration at the Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Dr., Brighton,, from 9 a.m.–noon. The Board of County Commissioners, Human Services Department, and the 17th Judicial District will host the adoptive families for a beach-themed event. Adams County has finalized more than 117 adoptions through October, and projects a total of 150 adoptions to be finalized by the end of the year.

Leaf & Pumpkin Drop-off

Dump your leftover pumpkins and bagged leaves at the City of Westminster’s drop-off events on Saturdays this fall. Westminster residents can drop off their pumpkins and bagged leaves on Saturday, Nov. 4 and 18, 8 a.m.–noon, at 10001 Alkire St. All Adams County residents can drop off their pumpkins and bagged leaves on  Saturday, Nov. 11, 8 a.m.–noon, at 3851 Elk Drive. FREE Legal Clinic at the Adams County Justice Center

The 17th Judicial District (Adams and Broomfield Counties) and 17th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee are offering a free legal clinic, with attorneys available to answer questions on various areas of law, at the Adams County Justice Center on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

Spring 2018 Colorado Master Gardener Program

The Colorado Master Gardener program in Adams County is taking applications for Spring 2018 full-day classes. Classes will be held on Fridays from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. running from Jan. 26–April 12.

Pete Mirelez Human Services Center Grand Opening

Today, Oct. 5, marked the grand opening ceremony for the Pete Mirelez Human Services Center in Adams County. More than 1,500 guests and employees gathered for the ceremony as Adams County Commissioners Eva J. Henry, Charles “Chaz” Tedesco, Steve O’Dorisio, Erik Hansen, and Mary Hodge, as well as the City of Westminster Mayor Herb Atchison, cut the official ribbon and dedicated the building to honor the late Pete Mirelez. The new 315,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility, located at 11860 Pecos St., brings together nearly 800 employees who serve more than 500 residents daily.
