The Adams County Fair is right around the corner. Have you made your plans yet? Don't miss out on a whole host of great activities for all ages Aug. 1-5 at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton.

Senior Day - Thursday, Aug. 2

Senior Day at the fair begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, in the Waymire Dome Building. The day will include a resource fair, entertainment featuring a square dancing exhibition, illusionist, and bingo! Free lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Come join us for a full day of free activities! 

9News Kids Day - Friday, Aug. 3

Join us for Kids Day at the Adams County Fair on Friday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Discounted carnival armbands are available for purchase until 3 p.m. (valid until 4 p.m.). Catch all the free kids zone activities, presented by Water World, including Kid's Expo, games, and so much more.

Funnel Cake 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run - Saturday, Aug. 4

Support Adams County foster kids by participating in the Funnel Cake 5K Race & 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Aug. 4. The 5K Race starts at 7:30 a.m. followed by the Fun Run at 8 a.m. Register now.

Free Off-Site Shuttle Service and Parking

A free shuttle service to and from the fair is offered Thursday-Sunday at the following locations:

Prairie View High School
12909 E. 120th Ave., Brighton
Shuttles run approximately every 20 min.

Shadow Ridge Middle School
12551 Holly St., Thornton
Shuttles run approximately every 15 min.

  • Wednesday - 5 pm.-midnight
  • Thursday — 3 p.m. - midnight
  • Friday — 3 p.m. - midnight
  • Saturday — noon - midnight
  • Sunday — noon - midnight

Parking at the Regional Park is $10.

Adams County Students Awarded More Than $1 Million in Scholarships

Fifty-eight Adams County high school students were awarded scholarships totaling more than $1 million on Wednesday, June 7, through the Adams County Scholarship Fund. Adams County Commissioners introduced the Scholarship Fund in 2016, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative, making this the eighth group of recipients.

Annual Stars & Stripes Event to Feature Singer Thomas Mac

The annual pre-Independence Day celebration at Riverdale Regional Park is back! Mark your calendars for the third of July celebration. Ward Electric presents a free evening in the park with country singer, Thomas Mac, and a festive display of fireworks.

Food and beverage vendors will begin serving at 4 p.m. Enjoy live music followed by the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show.

I Voted Sticker Design Contest Winners Announced

The Adams County Elections Department received 36 entries for the I Voted Sticker Design Contest from both students and residents. Four winners were chosen, and the winning designs will be used throughout the 2023 Coordinated, 2024 Presidential Primary, 2024 Primary, and 2024 General Elections. Adams County Veterans Memorial Sign Program

Adams County is highly invested in showing support for residents who are currently serving or are veterans of the United States military services. As part of this commitment, the Public Works Department has implemented the Veterans Memorial Sign Program. This program is intended to allow residents of Adams County who are family or friends of military veterans killed in the line of duty to request dedication of a street in Adams County in memory of their departed veterans.

Ribbon Cutting Celebrating the York St. Phase 1 and Pedestrian Underpass Public Art Installation Project

Today, Adams County celebrated the York St. Phase 1 and Pedestrian Underpass Public Art Installation project with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The York St. Phase 1 Project was a $10.4 million investment that made road and drainage improvements to York St. between E. 78th Ave. and State Highway 224. The project is the first of three the county is implementing to develop this essential corridor for residents of Adams County.
