Commissioners’ Corner: Looking Back to Move Forward

By Emma Pinter, Chair of the Adams County Board of Commissioners

When Adams County puts together our annual community report, teams across our departments pore over a year of successes, statistics, and stories to decide what should be included. We compare each moment side-by-side with our mission and vision and evaluate our accomplishments based on what matters most—the impact they had on the lives of our county’s residents.

Adams County’s employees and elected officials are committed each day to advancing our county vision, but that only happens when the ways we serve resonate with the people we serve. As we work to make sure that Adams County IS the most innovative and inclusive county in America for all families and businesses, we are committed to transparency, responsiveness and integrity. The Community Report is one of many ways we fiercely share information WITH and stay accountable TO you, our community members.

When you look through our 2024 Community Report, which hit mailboxes across Adams County this month and is also available online, you’ll see recaps of things like infrastructure improvements, enriching cultural events and open spaces developments, and innovative projects that scaffolded services for people in need. But, more importantly, we hope each one of you will see pieces of yourself, your family, your neighborhood, your community and your life reflected in this report.

Just like this report is an effort to show our residents, businesses and communities the ways their county government is responsibly and effectively serving, so is this new, monthly column in Absolutely Adams. Each month, one member of our Board of County Commissioners will share updates, information or insight on issues that are important to our community members. We encourage you to share feedback with us—because the best conversations in life don’t exist one-way. Please feel free to reach out to us about this column, the Community Report, or anything else with which you need your county government’s support.

Until next month, we’ll leave you with the community report and the promise of our continued commitment to our county’s future—together.
